Who We Are

Lobbyist. Lawyer. Oxford-educated scholar. Arizonan. Mother. GJ_1

Gretchen Jacobs is all those things, and then some. With a degree in political science from USC and a law degree from Santa Clara, Gretchen spent the first part of her career in civil courtrooms, then shifted to the Arizona political arena in 1999. Ever since, her lobbying career has been defined by a few key points:

  • Trust: By working together with legislators and with the executive branch without publicizing these relationships, Gretchen creates a level of confidence that translates into results, not hype.
  • Determination: Gretchen has a long record of success for her clients. As she puts it, “I never give up. There is always another avenue to achieve results if the first avenue stalls.”
  • Focus: Gretchen has helped clients from the high tech world to the insurance industry, substance abuse treatment providers to autism treatment. How does she handle such complex, diverse needs? By crafting thoughtful strategies, getting directly to the point and acting tirelessly to move your interests forward.
  • Relationships: In a business that’s often a bloodsport, Gretchen has built deep, long-term professional relationships across the political map. Let others leave bodies in their path; Gretchen prefers to leave a trail of success.

“Gretchen Jacobs is a dynamic, aggressive lobbyist with proven experience,” says Sen. Ken Cheuvront, D-Phoenix. “I respect Gretchen greatly and I’ve always enjoyed working with her.”

The senator’s Republican House colleague, Rep. Jim Weiers, agrees. “Gretchen isn’t just experienced and tested – she does what needs to be done with dignity and with strong ethics. She’s a lobbyist’s lobbyist.

Britney Gerold more than lives up to those descriptors. An ASU graduate with a degree in Business Management, Britney’s role at Arizona Government Affairs continues to expand as the 2011 session gathers speed. Whether it’s a legislative hearing where she scribbles notes like mad, updating Gretchen on the who, what, when and where of an amendment, tracking legislation or meeting herself with legislators, Britney can be found all over the State House these days.

Why politics, you ask? Britney says it combines two of her passions: The chance to help people succeed and the ability to connect on a personal level. “It gets more interesting all the time,” she explains. “You see an issue take all the crazy turns and you see how each new development changes people’s lives. I love seeing it all come together.”
